Theatre in the Bush
Original Concept by Brian FidlerSet deep in Yukon’s boreal forest, on the Traditional Territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwächän Council, Theatre in the Bush takes the ritual and mad magic of a bush party and distills it into an interactive, multi-disciplinary theatre event.
Against a backdrop of willow, scrubby black spruce and knotty pine, audiences are led through the woods to see original performances that local artists cook up over the course of a week.
Featuring an eclectic line up of weird and boundary pushing artists, Theatre in the Bush has a 16 year history of offering playful, daring theatre mixed with a healthy dose of folksy Yukon charm.
Past shows have featured: sound installations, synchronized swimmers, underwear fights, shadow puppet fables, build your own clay creations and many other charming, irreverent acts brimming with creativity and Yukon ingenuity.
Our 2026 event will take place on September 19th. In order to keep things fair we use a ticket lottery system for the limited amount of tickets available for the event.
The ticket lottery will open on August 28th and close by September 4th.
We have an open call for artists from August 4th to August 25th, 2026. Watch for our call for artists here on our website and on social media.
